Irish American Heritage Center Chicago Belleek Collection
My summer 2011 internship at the Irish American Heritage Center in Chicago yielded a fantastic opportunity to visually appreciate the workmanship and skill incorporated in the designs of Fermanagh based Belleek Pottery. A producer of some of Ireland's finest parian china, all items had been gifted to the museum by Irish families in Chicago, and represent one of the biggest collections outside Ireland. It was a joy to photograph and a pleasure to experience an entirely volunteer driven organisation, at that time led by Tim McDonnell, that is dedicated to holding on and not letting go of its Irish heritage and culture.
